Welcome to MOPS 2008-2009
Hey girls!!! I created this blog so that we can all be on the same page about issues that concern our MOPS program. We can use it as a virtual meeting when needed.
Don't forget about our meeting scheduled for next Thursday (June 26 at 7:00). Here are some things that I would like you to think about before the meeting next week. Feel free to comment on this blog about other things you think need to be covered.
Okay, here goes-
Everyone: Please visit MOPS Handbooks username: mom, password: adventure, and print the handbook for your steering position.
Hospitality: Lori C~ Start thinking about decorations that go with our theme this year Adventures in Mothering. I would like to start off the year with some good decorations to get the girls motivated. Also, lets get a list together for snacks for steering meetings and regular meetings. I love your organizational skills and feel they are a GREAT asset to the team.
MOPPETS: Cindy~ You did a great job this past year!!! I am not too sure how we go about contacting next years MOPPETS ladies??? Could you get a list together (or bring a list) of potential workers for the next year. Lets also brainstorm some craft/snack ideas for the year.
Mentor: Joanie~ You ROCK! What else do I need to say. Could you please brainstorm some topics you might want to discuss (along with the rest of the group). Also, could we get the dates you will be gone this next year (if you have them). I would like to get ALL of our meetings set for the year so we don't have to hustle last minute to fill a void.
Finance: Cheryl~welcome to your new role! Could you please get a list of the different categories of our budget and how much we have budgeted for this year per category. THANKS!!! Also, I was wondering if we had some money to get some raffle items off of the MOPS website?
Discussion group leaders: Courtney, Loren, and Faith (welcome Loren and Faith). Courtney, could you please type out (or write) a brief list of responsibilities you have in this role for the new gals? (Your awesome) Lets start thinking about how we want to organize the groups. Maybe geographically?
Publicity: WELCOME Amy~ I will be emailing you the template I used this past year for the newsletter. We also need to start thinking about advertising. I believe in the past we put a blurb in the local church bulletins and flyer's around??? I did order some cards for us to hand out (free through the MOPS website). We also need to get some cards ready to mail out.
Craft: Andrea~thanks for taking on another year! Lets start brainstorming craft ideas for next year. One recommendation that came up in the survey was to have craft at EACH meeting instead of once monthly. I know you change this last year because of the budget, but I believe we were under budget in this category this past year. Let just think about going back to that. Please say if it is too much...
I also wanted to outline our evening next week. Please leave some feedback in regards to the time. We can always do it earlier!

~EAT lots of goodies (I was thinking we could all bring a dessert/munchy...please let me know what you plan on bringing) and TALK!
Directions to my house:
R 13 to R 20 (or however else you get to 20)
Pass P&C/ McDonalds and go up the hill.
turn right on Mosley Rd (right after the Dentist's office and mini business building)
Go until you get to the stop sign (about 2.5 miles)
Turn left on Thomas (no road sign).
We are about .25 miles down on the left #3811, green with a BIG roof.
Let's end with prayer: Dear Lord, Thank you for all of the gifts these girls provide to the MOPS program at Crossroads. Thank you for their dedication and hard work. I pray for an awesome 2008-2009 year and pray that you would prepare the hearts of those mom's who will be joining us this year. I pray for new mom's that may be coming to the group as well. I pray they would be open to hear the word through Joanie's messages and be able to connect with others. I pray for unity between the steering team and for friendships to continue to blossom. I thank you for the new gals joining us this year and I pray that this is a positive experience for them. In closing, I pray for our meeting next week. I pray you would bless our time together and lead us where we need to be. Thank you Lord, Amen.
